The Adventures of Big Ande and Little Wade are stories about two mice that portray people. Wade is very adventurous, ambitious, compassionate, funny, and has a big imagination. Wade is a very unusual mouse and quite different from Ande. Wade wants to wear clothes because farmer Bill wears coveralls and a striped shirt. However, no matter what he gets into, Ande is always there to rescue him. The stories are full of excitement and laughter. The name Ande was created in honor of the author, Edna, spelled backward. The name Wade was created from the first initial (W) of the author's husband's name, Willie; additional letters are from the author's first name. There are many life lessons, character-building traits, values, and morals to be learned from each story. Ande and Wade's adventures may be passed down for generations to come. "Success sits on the tip of an iceberg waiting for those who desire to succeed." EGM

About the Author

Edna Googe Moore is a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, author, tailor, and educator. Retiring as an Early Childhood Kindergarten teacher for 25 years, her experience and knowledge give her great insight into the needed teachings for children. Edna is a native of Aiken, South Carolina, and a Martha Schofield High School graduate. After graduation, she relocated to Jamaica, New York and volunteered at Project Head Start as a Teacher Assistant. Edna later became a Telephone Operator for Bell South in New York City before returning to Aiken, South Carolina.

Upon her return home, Edna continued her career as a Telephone Operator for Aiken Answering Service, making her the first African American Woman to hold the role. Unafraid to break the glass ceiling of society’s limitations, she became the first African American Woman in the part of a Radio Dispatcher in Aiken, South Carolina, with the Aiken County Sheriff Department and Miller Dunn Electric, which was an entity of Savannah River Site. In 1995, Edna retired from the Savannah River Site to pursue her passion for educating children.

Enrolling in Aiken Technical College, she received her Early Childhood Education degree and began to teach. Second Baptist Christian Preparatory School became her educational home until her retirement in 2018. Edna is now pursuing her dream of reaching children through literacy and the adventures of two mice, Ande and Wade.
